The Supreme Court agreed Friday to decide whether states may reject religious charter schools from receiving public funding, agreeing to hear arguments in an appeal out of Oklahoma involving the first such school in the nation.

The Supreme Court will weigh the fate of an Oklahoma religious charter school that has blurred the lines between church and state, justices announced Friday in an unsigned order distributed days after President Donald Trump was sworn into office.

Conservatives hope the case would continue a streak of rulings in recent years permitting taxpayer funds to be used for religious purposes.
