President Trump set the stage for a fraught face-to-face with a plan he announced last week to relocate some 2 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt. Both countries have said they are strongly opposed to the plan, which Israel's leadership has embraced.

Jordan's leaders have rejected the US president's proposal to relocate Gazans to neighbouring countries, including Jordan and Egypt.

Trump will hold meetings and a cordial lunch for Abdullah as he tries to get his support for the glitzy redevelopment plan and perhaps even accept some of the Palestinians who would be displaced.
