Tayquon Young, 34, is recovering at Bellevue Hospital after having four fingers chopped off. Police say at the time of the attack the victim and the suspect each had a dog with them. Their meeting was captured on video from a deli sidewalk security camera on Southern Boulevard in the West Farms section of the borough.

A sweet and friendly pit bull named Chanel was missing her owner on Monday night. Rakeem Young is in the hospital after having three fingers surgically re-attached.

Only three of his four severed fingers were found, and reattached to his hand over the course of 13 hours of care in hospital.

A Bronx man is recovering in the hospital after he went out of his way to protect his beloved pup. Rakeem Young was out walking his four-year-old pit bull Chanel when the two were approached by a man with a machete.

"If he would have sliced my dog’s head off like that, that would have broke my heart. That would have broke me for the rest of my life," victim Rakeem Young said
