Thursday saw record-breaking heat, with temperatures reaching 84°F at DFW, surpassing the previous record of 83°F set in 1925. The normal temperature for this time of year is 59°F. A cold front is expected to bring cooler temperatures by Super Bowl Sunday and into next week.

Thursday morning is a muggy and mostly cloudy one across North Texas. Some areas of the region have seen visibilities drop to less than a half of a mile, but the cloud cover and fog will clear through the morning hours and into the afternoon.

Texas has fluctuated from blizzard conditions to beach weather over the last two weeks, and the pendulum of extremes is set to swing again for parts of the state thanks to an encroaching cold front primed to pass through this weekend.
