Australian authorities say they’ve foiled a potential “mass casualty” attack with the discovery of a trailer packed with explosives in northwest Sydney, and “an indication” it was to be used against targets in the Jewish community following a spate of antisemitic incidents.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said the discovery of a caravan packed with explosives in outer suburban Sydney was part of a terrorist plot, with local officials drawing a link between the find and a recent spate of antisemitic attacks.

"That caravan contained an amount of explosives and some indication that those explosives might be used in some form of antisemitic attack," he told a news conference.
