Hello Mary, "A popular kauri walking track in the Waipoua Forest has been closed after Kauri Dieback was discovered nearby. The Department of Conservation (DOC) and Te Roroa, as kaitiaki over Waipoua Forest, have closed Four Sisters Walk temporarily due to the discovery of the kauri dieback pathogen, Phytophthora agathidicida (PA), in the near vicinity. New test results from recent soil samples were positive for two sites at the stand of kauri trees named 'the Four Sisters'. The walk will close until further notice". But some trails are still open. I advise you to follow the news about the Kauri trees on the website.

hello, just wanting to know if there is an entrance fee to the park? We enjoy hiking and walks and feel comfortable going without a tour group, but I can't tell if you can just park and do a self led tour? Unless others recommend a tour? Thank you!
A:
No entry fee! And as far as I know most people do their own thing, but of course there may be guided tours that we didn't know about. Enjoy - the trees are really beautiful.
Q:
This might be a dumb question, but are there specific hours that you are able to access the trails and park?

I don't think that there are any opening hours to the trails but if you are going there on your own without a guide, it is not advisable to go at night as it is really going to be pitch-dark and the road leading to the forest is windy and there are no lights. If you would like to visit the park at night there is the evening experience by Footprints and a knowledgeable Maori guide will bring you there.
